Sit back, relax and enjoy.
‘Summer afternoon – summer afternoon…,’ said The Portrait of a Lady author Henry James. ‘To me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.’ I couldn’t agree more. There’s something particularly indulgent about carving out time to laze in a shady spot with a tall glass of whatever is cool and refreshing and getting lost in a world of words. And so many titles have me captivated this month – from modern classics like the thought-provoking A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara to the eye-widening Good Me Bad Me by Ali Land and Emma Healey’s riveting Elizabeth is Missing. Somehow each one (and the other titles in our catalogue) makes me happier, smarter, more compassionate, less judgmental and altogether more whole for having read it.
